The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) released the flash estimate of the price index for private residential property for 1st Quarter 2018 today. Overall, the private residential property index increased 4.3 points from 138.7 points in 4th Quarter 2017 to 143.0 points in 1st Quarter 2018. Based on flash estimates released by URA on Jan 2, the private residential property index rose by 1.0 point to 138.6 points in 4Q2017, from 137.6 points in 3Q2017. This works out to be a 0.7% q-o-q increase, following the 0.7% increase in 3Q2017. Property prices for the whole of 2017 rose by 1%. The index is based on quarterly average resale price by date of registration. The price index of a particular property type is the weighted average of all the sub-indices of that property type in the various planning areas.
